KABOKWENI – A shoot out ensued between security guards and robbers during an attempted robbery at Absa in Ngodini shopping complex on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the police approximately 20 men driving in a double cab and a VW Golf started shooting at security guards who suspected they were following an SBV vehicle.
The suspects then disarmed one of the security guards and fled the scene with his firearm driving towards Clau Clau.
Police gave chase and another shooting occurred where the suspects shot and deflated the tyres of the police vehicle.
The suspects then abandoned the car and fled into a bush and the police gave chase where they apprehended one suspect.
“One suspect was arrested and a police chopper is looking for the other suspects as we speak,” said Capt Shirley Ngomane.
Ngomane further said that no one was injured during the shoot out.
