MBOMBELA- Eight people have lost their lives and three others were injured following a truck and a taxi ‘s accident on the R38 Road between Badplaas and Barberton on Tuesday evening.
According to Mr Joseph Mabuza spokesperson for Safety and Security all eight victims including a minor died on the scene.
“It is believed that the truck lost control before plunging into a minibus taxi. Three people, who include the truck driver were seriously injured and were taken to Barberton Hospital. The police are investigating the cause of the accident,” explained Mabuza.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has expressed deep shock at the incident saying it is a clear indication that there still have a long way to go to enhance road safety.
