Look out for Ligwalagwala’s new line-up

Listeners could expect some changes to the programme line-up, mainly on the drive shows.

The duo combination of Barberton-based DJs at SABC Ligwalagwala FM in Mbombela, has been reunited.

As of April 1, DJs Dumisani Mavuso aka Shabbisto and Buhle Ndlovu, popularly known as the Drama Queen, will be co-hosting the afternoon-drive show which is a weekday programme from 15:00 to 18:00. –

It will not be the first time the duo co-hosts a show. They co-hosted the morning drive show some years ago. Both DJs cut their teeth in broadcasting at the local Barberton Community Radio (BRC).

Another local presenter of Ligwalagwala – Mduduzi “Iron” Ntiwane – has been given his own slot. Ntiwane will host his own show called “Sport Talk” every Tuesday and Wednesday from 19:00 to 20:00.

Ntiwane, a former professional footballer, is currently working as a sports producer at Ligwalagwala.

Just like Shabbisto and Drama Queen, Iron joined Ligwalagwala from BCR. Mfanimpela Ndlala, the programme’s events coordinator said it has become the norm that the radio station experiences some changes in April every year.

He said the listeners could expect some changes to the programme line-up, mainly on the drive shows.

“There will be a couple of shifts and mergers aimed at bringing some flair into the on-air offering of Mpumalanga’s leading radio station. The shift in talent has also necessitated an adjustment to the lengths of some shows.

“Listeners can, however, rest assured that all shows will retain their names,” he said. Mornings will not be the same with “Kusile Mzansi”, the breakfast show currently presented by the award-winning DJ Madumane.

Joining Madumane in the morning will be the multi-talented radio and TV extraordinaire, Mpumi Mbhethe.

Mpumi moves from co-hosting the afternoon drive show, “Asambe” with Shabbisto to the breakfast show with effect from April 1.

He said it would now have a dedicated team that would also include Mancane and Shukuma Lukhele, who would do the kiddies programme and sports bulletin respectively. Mpumi’s shoes in the afternoon drive show will be filled by the vibrant Drama Queen who moves from doing the weekly midnight slot.

“We are repackaging the brand in line with consumers’ demands. The media space is evolving and the station is part of this evolution.

These changes aim primarily at giving dominance to the voice of women during prime time and at the same time, boosting our listenership targets” said Rio Mabunda, Ligwalagwala FM’s station manager.
