Man arrested in possession of stolen truck
A 48-year-old Mozambican male identified as Francisco Januario, was arrested in possession of a stolen truck, (Hino truck) REG NO: FDT312 FS, wich costs an estimated R500, 000, and was reported stolen in Sinoville on Thursday.
TONGA – A 48-year-old Mozambican male identified as Francisco Januario, was arrested in possession of a stolen truck, (Hino truck) REG NO: FDT312 FS, wich costs an estimated R500, 000, and was reported stolen in Sinoville on Thursday.
According to Tonga SAPS, the K9 member was on duty patrolling at D979 (Mzinti to Tonga) main road when he suddenly noticed a truck and suspected that it was stolen.
“The officer followed the truck and stopped it, he searched it and noticed that the chase number that was at the truck allocated him to a truck that was reported stolen at Sinoville, and the registration number on the truck was fake. The suspect alleged that he was hired as a driver to transport the truck to someone at Mangweni Trust.
An arrest was then made and the suspect remains in custody. The suspect is to appear at the local magistrate court soon,” said Tonga SAPS Spokesperson, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi.
According to Nyambi, the police are still investigating the matter.
