Community urged to look after schools

"I deliver this school to the hands of the SGB and parents to look after and take care of the environments of this school. I want this school to remain clean and beautiful as it is," said Mabuza.

EMAKHAZENI- Parents together with the school governing body of a school have a responsibility of looking after and taking care of a school environment at all times for the future of their children and future generations.

This was emphasized by the premier of the province David Mabuza when he officially opened the fourth non-paying-school fee-boarding school in the province and a state of the art Emakhazeni Boarding School in Machardodrop on February 13.

“I deliver this school to the hands of the SGB and parents to look after and take care of the environments of this school. I want this school to remain clean and beautiful as it is,” said Mabuza. This facility belongs to the community of this municipality, this is your school, look after it,”. said  Mabuza.

Directing to the learners Mabuza talked lengthy on the importance of civilization and respecting of elders in the community.
“Respect your parents if regardless of him or her being the worst drunkard, irrespective won’t make us us a good nation. Don’t emulate what recently happened in parliament where we see children insulting elders,” he said.

Over and above the premier promised to buy school uniforms for all the learners of the school and hire a qualified nurse to fully operate in the school and provide medical treatment and antiretroviral treatments to the learners as some of the them are living with HIV/ Aids virus.

The school have enrolled over 685 learners from Grade R to 9 with 25 teachers. Emakhazeni Boarding School is a fully fledge school constructed from January 2013 and it comprises of 24 classrooms, administration block, computer centre, library block, science laboratories, three sports facilities, change room facilities, guard house, dining hall, 35 toilets and eight sleeping units boarding houses.
