Department investigating alleged racism

This follows an incident where it is alleged that teachers/school called parents and learners “Baboons and used the K word”.

MBOMBELA- The Mpumalanga Department of Education has instituted an investigation on alleged racism remarks and conduct of Reynopark High School at Emalahleni Local Municipality.

This follows an incident where it is alleged that teachers/school called parents and learners “Baboons and used the K word”.
The Investigating team will look at the circumstances that lead to the alleged developments and the manner at which the school management team had handled the matter.

The Department has in the meantime suspended the principal of the school and two teachers who will be subject of the investigation.
The Department has appointed Mr. Hennie Visser, the Deputy Principal to manage the school while the investigation proceeds.

The Department wants to put it on record that it will not tolerate any form of abuse and racism in any of its schools.

The Department hereby requests the community of Emalahleni Local Municipality to allow the investigation to take its course.
