Mayor values local mines

"Such contributions show that we are moving in a positive direction in terms of improving service delivery ".

BARBERTON – The Umjindi Local Municipal’s executive mayor, Cllr Lazarus Mashaba has pleaded with the community to always safeguard the new buildings which were recently donated by the Barberton Mines.

“We like to urge community members to take care of the new structures so that we can see a way forward in terms of developing our town,” he called.

Mashaba’s call comes after he valued the role played by Barberton mines.

Since the beginning of the year, the mine has contributed a lot in the community in different ways including investing in education by building new classrooms and awarding bursaries to learners at Mjindini Secondary School.

“I’m very happy to see our local mine ploughing back to the community, not so long ago, we witnessed the official handing over of classrooms in one of our local schools and recently as a municipality we received a new tennis scout and again the mine also assisted us by constructing a tarred road.

Such contributions show that we are moving in a positive direction in terms of improving service delivery,” he concluded.
