When finalists are selected for the Top 12 in the Crowning Miss Mpumalana beauty pageant, originality of a contestant is not the issue, but beauty and brains.

MBOMBELA – When finalists are selected for the Top 12 in the Crowning Miss Mpumalana beauty pageant, originality of a contestant is not the issue, but beauty and brains.

This was spelled out by the CEO of Mzimari Productions, Ms Gugu Nyarenda when she unveiled the Top 12 finalists that will be competing for the crownnon April 11 in Mbombela.

“I want to put it on record that when girls are selected, my judges do not look at where a girl comes from, nor do they select according to local municipalities where they originate from, but base their judgment on merit which entails one’s beauty and intelligence. The girls have to meet the criteria that the position demands, either than that, they do not qualify as contestants,” she said.

Nyarenda further said in a given year, one local municipality can dominate, as has been the case with the current Top 12, which is dominated by Thembisile Hani Oval Municipality, KwaMhlanga in the former KwaNdebele with four contestants among the To 12.

“We have a classic case this year. There are two blood sisters among the finalists who make up the four finalists from the same municipality. The sisters have also gone on record as declaring to each other that the best between the two of them will walk away with the crown. That is a very interesting development. Last year we did have two sisters in the finals, but they were not supportive of each other.

“The whole purpose is about mounting competitiveness naming them to be high so as to create a platform for an interesting pageant this year. As I have delivered the Top 12 finalists, they are of the highest standard thus far. The ball is now in the judges’ court to deliver the best girl that is fit to wear the crown, come April 11,” she ended.

Speaking to the sisters, Joyce and Mbalenhle Ntuli was anther inspiring experience as Joyce, the eldest said: “If I were to win, I would work closely with my sister as she’s my sibling and will need her input and prowess. I’d also utilize the skills of the other finalists and the team at Mzimari Productions to also assist, although I have many ideas that I would roll out during my reign.”
Younger sister, Mbalenhle said curtly:”I am the worthy one to clinch the crown and will not look any closer for help, but will strive to clinch it from everybody else here.”

The rest of the finalists all presented brief motivations on why they think they are the best to clinch the crown.

One of the finalists’ first pubic appearance will be at the State Of the Province Address during February. And also look out for them in your area as the will be engaged with the Mpumalanga Gambling Board in community outreach programmed on responsible gambling in and around the province during the next two months.
