Keep healthy and fit throughout the year

For those determined to shed some weight gained during the festive season, Mohlala provides free counselling and scanning services in town

MBOMBELA – In line with president Jacob Zuma’s recent call for a healthy and fit nation in a statement on January 8 at the ANC’s 103-year celebration, a locally based wellness coach urges the community to be mindful of what they eat.

Born and raised in the deep rural area of Buyelani Village near Acornhoek, Puseletso Mohlala of Herbal Life says people need to take extra care of their bodies by eating healthy, as most diseases affecting the majority of the population derives from what they eat.

“We also provide nutritional information to assist people to make better choices regarding their eating habits, and to stay healthy and fit.” He added that regular exercise remained a priority in having a healthy body. “Exercise is very important, it keeps one energetic, boosts the mood and reduces stress,” he said.

For those determined to shed some weight gained during the festive season, Mohlala provides free counselling and scanning services in town.

“We do a body scan which helps us know the exact amount of fat one has around his or her organs, we check metabolic age, protein levels, body mass and calories among others. Our mission is to help people choose better eating habits and keep fit at all times,” explained Mohlala.

He also emphasised the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. “If one does not eat breakfast, they starve their cells which might cause them (cells) to steal nutrients from other organs, mainly muscles, to survive. This causes them to lose proteins.”

Growing up in the deep rurals and not achieving the best results to enable him to pursue a career in a health-related field, did not hinder him from attaining his dreams.

After passing matric he studied engineering and struggled to get employment after completing his studies. His journey to health began shortly after an encounter with his mentor and manager, Laura Moggach in a taxi. He had attended lots of training and acquired skills along the way. For four years now he still enjoys every part of his job, mostly because he works with people.

This year Mohlala and his team looks forward to do more wellness coaching, host more physical fitness and training classes as well as nutrition clubs in Mbombela. Enquiries: Mohlala on 078-047-8867 or at woaquinjoaq@gmail.com
