Thembeka’s results increased

This comes after learners noticed that there was something fishy regarding their results last week. They were apparently given the same mark in life orientation.

KANYAMAZANE – Thembeka High School’s matric results have drastically increased from the 51,9 per cent, announced by the Department of Education, to a whopping 77,5 per cent pass rate.

This followed after learners noticed that there was something fishy regarding their results last week. They were apparently given the same mark in life orientation, which would have meant that everyone failed.

The school immediately contacted the department and discovered that there had been an anomaly or typing error. It was corrected and learners were called to the school the following day to receive their correct marks.

“I initially received 24 per cent in life orientation, which I knew from the start was wrong as I studied hard for the exams. After it was corrected, I obtained 84 per cent. I am currently submitting my statements to Rhodes University where I wish to pursue a career in environmental sciences,” explained a former learner, Penelope Mabena.

Speaking to the school’s deputy principal Mr Bongani Mohuba, the school was so delighted about the correct mark, which caused the initial pass rate percentage to increase to 77,5 per cent, making the school a top achiever in the Mngwenya circuit.

In 2014 a total of 151 matric pupils wrote exams and 117 of them passed. “We achieved a lot and conquered the exams as the majority of our candidates passed,” added Mohuba.
