MEC takes hat off for the class of 2014

According to the department, the total number of full time learners who sat for the 2014 examinations was 45 081 and out of this number,35 615 have passed.

MBOMBELA – The MEC for education department,Ms Reginah Mhaule has proudly praised the class of 2014 for the significant 79 per cent pass rate.

According to the department, the total number of full time learners who sat for the 2014 examinations was 45 081 and out of this number,35 615 have passed.

“On that score,it gives me pleasure to announce that the class of 2014 has improved last year’s pass rate by 1.4 percent,” said the excited Mhaule during the results announcement ceremony in Barberton this morning.

She added that out of the 18 municipalities,Nkomazi Local Municipality was the top municipality after recording 86 percent,a 0.4 percent improvement from 2013 results.

Of the 68 circuits from the province, Mashishing Circuit had been declared the overall best performing circuit after obtaining 95.1 percent pass rate.

“The department commits to work with all municipalities and stakeholders to ensure that results reach satisfactory levels in 2015 and beyond,” added Mhaule.
