School celebrates 40th anniversary

KANYAMAZANE – One of the oldest schools in the province will celebrate its 40th anniversary on December 20.

During this event the alumni will come together at their alma mater in festivity.

“We are celebrating 40 years and we want it to be the biggest event of its kind. We will also outline our legacy project and plan for the year ahead.

“The plans for 2015 include renovating the library and selling shares to private companies.

We are working closely with the Lowveld National Botanical Garden to help create awareness about the trees at the school and how best we can preserve them,” said Ms Sandile Ngcobo, organiser of the event.

The plans for 2015 also include building a wall of remembrance for those who are regarded as the heroes of the school.

“It will have the names of our local unsung heroes to see where we have come from,” she added.

“Mr Robert Gumede, Past Mxolisi Lephoko, Mr Rio Mabunda and Ms Bongi Baloyi, are but some of the alumni who will grace the occasion on the day.

“We will raise funds by selling plates of food ranging from R40 to R100. Tables seating 10 are also available at R1 000 each. We would like to request contributions in the form of money, any amount is acceptable,” said Ngcobo.
