College Director now a Doctor

WHITE RIVER – Self-empowering through education remains the only way to economic freedom. This is according to the founder of the White River Technical College and newly-ordained doctor of philosophy in education, Dr Fana Daniel Sibiya.

Sibiya recently received his doctorate following years of endurance studying with the OG University of Zambia.

He urged the youth of the province to make use of the available opportunities and study, “Because if the youth is not educated enough, they will remain a second-hand class citizen and the solution to reaching economic freedom and alleviating poverty is only through educating our youth,” he said.

He also called on leaders and educated individuals to be role models and inspire the youth in aspiring to better citizens of the country in future.

“It’s shocking to see how the youth of today behave, indulging in alcohol like nobody’s business and girls exposing their bodies like they did in one of the recent Pens Down celebrations. How can they celebrate putting down pens? Education does not end in matric, but is a life- long journey,” he said.

He urged parents to act swiftly and call their kids to order before it is too late as children are the future of the nation.

He said they have to acquire the wisdom of education to carry the country through. Sibiya also wished his students, parents of his college, colleagues and subordinates a safe festive season coupled with a prosperous new year.
