TONGA – In support of the 16 days of activism against violence to women and children, the Tonga Cluster police stations: Tonga, Mbuzini, Schoemansdal, Komatipoort, Malelane and other stakeholders visited a victim of rape at Block A trust last Tuesday.

The SAPS, together with the Thuthuzela care centre, Masisikumeni, home based care centres and other stakeholders donated food parcels to the victim, repaired broken windows at her home and also gave her hard cash as a gift for Christmas.

The 12-year-old lost her parents during a house robbery in February this year when three suspects who were armed with firearms, attacked the family, brutally killed her parents in her presence and raped her.

The victim’s aunt welcomed the gifts presented and said she did not think police officials would go so far as to buy food parcels for victims of crime.
