Two babies found in a bush

It's believed that a child is a gift from God and women are the jewels of this world. Various organisations and government departments nationwide are banding together against domestic violence in the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children

KABOKWENI – It’s believed that a child is a gift from God and women are the jewels of this world.

Various organisations and government departments nationwide are banding together against domestic violence in the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, under a theme, “Let’s challenge militarism and end violence against women.”

Residents were shocked when two babies were recently found abandoned. Mpumalanga News learnt that the first baby girl, estimated to be three weeks old, was found near Vulindlela Primary School on Friday.

The second, a five-day-old baby boy, was discovered near TV Trust Section. Both infants were wearing nappies. The spokesperson for the local police, Capt Shelly Ngomane, confirmed both incidents and called upon community members to assist the SAPS in tracing the mothers.

“It’s true that two babies were discovered. We appeal to residents to come forward with any information that they might have. If they know of women who were pregnant and didn’t come home with their babies, they should not hesitate to report this.”

“I am disturbed that there are females who abandon their blessings from God. How can a person sleep at night while she has abandoned her flesh and blood in a bush?

This is totally unacceptable. We normally say men are the ones who abuse us, but in these cases, the mothers have failed to restore the dignity of women.”
