MBOMBELA – While the countrywide campaign of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is ongoing, the family of a 41-year-old woman who went missing a week ago now mourns her senseless death.
The victim’s burnt vehilce was found three days after she had been reported missing and her body was found last Sunday.

The decomposed remains were discovered by herdboys in the bush near Hillary Cemetery in Pienaar on November 30. Her bloody pillow and towel were also found on the scene. “She suffered severe burns on the head and face, and only three of her dreadlocks were left unburnt,” explained the deceased’s older brother, Mr James Phiri.

A short funeral will take place at her parental home in Matsulu this Friday at 09:00 and the family plans to bury her following Islamic burial rites. According to Phiri, his sister
Ms Allucia Mavis Phiri, who had worked as an immigration officer at Lebombo Border Post for years, was last seen on November 22 at about 22:00.
