Miss Mpumalanga auditions to take off

It is that time of the year once again when the Crowning Miss Mpumalanga beauty pageant embarks on the search for next year's queen.

MBOMBELA – It is that time of the year once again when the Crowning Miss Mpumalanga beauty pageant embarks on the search for next year’s queen.

Auditions are scheduled to be held in the three districts of Ehlanzeni at the Nelspruit Conference Centre Hotel on December 6, Nkangala at the Protea Highveld Hotel on December 5 and Gert Sibande District Municipality offices on December 4.

They will be held from 09:00 to 17:00 courtesy of Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB). “This year we decided to do things differently and in a more efficient and accommodative manner.

We are making it possible for all girls from the 18 local municipalities to participate in the auditions. “We are certainly going bigger and better this time around. The judging will be even more strict this year.

“We’ve got various plans that will entail engagements for the girls during and after the auditions, thus leading to the final crowning early next year,” says Mzimari Productions’ CEO, Gugu Nyarenda.

The pageant has come a long way as it has crowned Mpumi Lephoko in 2011, Lungile Libambo in 2012, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene in 2013 and Natasha dos Santos in 2014.

The past queens have played a meaningful role by contributing to the growth of youths in various communities as they’ve actively participated in initiatives to motivate the youth to take their education seriously. “In fact, these girls have been true ambassadors indeed.

MGB, which carried us as main sponsors throughout, have been incredible and unrelenting in making sure that the pageant grows and makes its rightful contribution to society. Last year we embarked on an even bigger drive, the Zazi HIV/Aids campaign where the finalists, participated in teaching girls about knowing their strength in the fight against infections but working towards a 50 per cent reduction in infections by 2019.

The queen also plays a double role as a Zazi ambassador throughout her reign.” More information can be obtained by logging onto the website and also logging into the Miss Mpumalanga Facebook page or calling 013-752 3384.
