Load shedding gives motorists a headache

“The timing of the load shedding is very bad. We are approaching the festive season which has a bad impact when it comes to increased traffic volumes because it will cause road accidents“.

MBOMBELA – People who are using public transport to reach to their working places in the CBD were very frustrated yesterday morning due to the increased traffic jam.

This publication learnt that robots in different streets were not functioning due to the load shedding that started to affect some parts of the province on Sunday.

Many citizens working in the city indicated that they arrived late at work as one of them, Mr Sithembiso Mkhwanazi said:

“The load shedding has affected us very badly yesterday. I managed to reach work around 08.45 while I arrived with a bus in town at 07.20. If the problem of the load shedding is not solved immediately, we might end up losing our jobs because some of our bosses don’t want stories.“

Another motorist, Mr Sakhe Malambe had this to say:

“The timing of the load shedding is very bad. We are approaching the festive season which has a bad impact when it comes to increased traffic volumes because it will cause road accidents.“

Malambe went on and urged traffic officers to respond on time and control traffic on the roads when there’s no electricity because other drivers are not following rules. Some drivers don’t want to use the robots as stop signs.

It’s reported that the power supply was disturbed on Saturday afternoon and caused the loss of 1 800MW due to a crack in a coal storage silo at Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga.
