User-friendly buses to aid disabled people

MBOMBELA – In celebration of Transport Month, Buscor recently introduced 10 new buses to ease the pressure on transporting passengers. The new buses are said to be user-friendly to disabled people.

This prompted Linda Malope, known to Ligwalagwala FM listeners as Mancane, to take a ride in one of these buses to see if it was the real deal.

“I wanted to have the authority to speak of something I know about. “In order for that to happen, I had to board the bus myself, I had to feel how convenient it is so I can tell the people what to expect,” said Mancane.

She seemed ecstatic as she got into the bus as she could do it on her own. Mancane said asking for help when you had to board a bus affected one’s dignity as a passenger.

“It injures your ego when you are wearing a skirt and you have to ask for people to carry you. Thanks to Buscor those days are now something of the past.

The last time I boarded a bus was in 2003 and I can attest to the growth and improvement shown by the company. I would encourage disabled people to take the bus, it is no longer the same as before,” she added.

Mancane’s only concern was the fact that it could only take one disabled person at a time.

“If I am with my friends and we all want to go home at the same time, it means we would have to wait for individual buses to transport us.

I hope they can address this, but I am happy with this development. It is the perfect way to celebrate Transport Month,” she concluded.
