The South African Football Association has moved the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Sudan that was initially scheduled for November 15, at the Mbombela Stadium.

This crucial fixture has since been moved to the other 2010 Soccer World Cup stadium, Moses Mabhida in Durban on the same date.
The Mbombela Stadium management has confirmed that they were informed of this move.

“Apparently, the decision to switch venues was taken early today (Thursday) to give the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa a proper send off at his home town,” explained Mthuthuzeli Qamba.

Qamba said those that have already bought tickets would be fully compensated.

Meyiwa hails from the township of Umlazi in the east coast of KwaZulu Natal and in honour to him, SAFA wishes to play the fixture in front of his home support.

The Moses Mabhida Stadium accommodates 85 000 soccer supporters while the Mbombela Stadium caters for only 43 000.
