Army Support Base Choir Scoops four trophies

"It doesn't mean that is the end of our journey .We are not going to wait for next year's competitions to start preparing ourselves ".

MBOMBELA -The Mpumalanga Army Support Base Choir put the province on the map at the National Choral Music competition held in Durban last week.

They performed exceptionally well and scooped numerous trophies in various categories.

They came second in the Western piece, and third position in indigenous and African categories. On top of that, they received a trophy after they obtained third position as overall winners.

In an interview with this newspaper, the chairperson of the choir, Siboniso Maseko said,

“I’d like to say a job well done to all the choristers.
“The standard was very high and tough since this year compared with the previous competition, but we are very happy that we were able to maintain our good record and return with four trophies.”

Maseko added that, having reached the national competition, didn’t mean that they were going to relax and wait for next year.

“It doesn’t mean that is the end of our journey. We are not going to wait for next year’s competition to start preparing ourselves. We are going to continue with our practising as usual.
“Like I said earlier, the standard was very high this year, there was a huge difference because we had to compete against more than 10 choirs this time,” he concluded.

Dedication and commitment shown by members of the choir are the secrets to their success.

It is the same spirit that saw them shine in the provincial competition in July in which they did very well
