Caring4Girls project been nominated for prestigious awards

The Caring4Girls Project is a noble endeavour by the Imbumba Foundation to solicit resources to procure sanitary towels to be donated to needy and deserving girl learners throughout the province and the country.

MBOMBELA- The Caring4Girls project which was conceptualized by the Imbumba Foundation, supported by the Banking Association South Africa, endorsed by the MEC for Education Reginah Mhaule and launched by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga has been nominated by the Centre for Public Service Innovation as a Finalist in the 2014 Public Sector Innovation Awards.

The Caring4Girls Project is a noble endeavour by the Imbumba Foundation to solicit resources to procure sanitary towels to be donated to needy and deserving girl learners throughout the province and the country.

The project came to being following research findings to the effect that some girl learners lose up to 50 days of schooling because they cannot afford these towels.

In mitigation of these challenges, the project also published a booklet which empowers the girl-child to learn with regards to taking care of their bodies, hygiene and confidence building.

The founder and CEO of Imbumba Foundation, Mr. Richard Mabaso went to an extent of climbing the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro for three years in succession to raise awareness and funding to support this course.
The awards will be held at the Emperors Palace Hotel, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, on the 31st of October 2014.
