Jet Mart succumbs to flames

Monday morning turned sour for Jet Mart staff and customers when the store was brought to its knees in blazing flames.

MBOMBELA – Monday morning turned sour for Jet Mart staff and customers when the store was brought to its knees in blazing flames.

The store situated at the corner of Bester and Paul Kruger streets in the CBD, is now nothing but ruins. This is the second unfortunate ordeal for the Jet Mart family in the Lowveld in three months. The store suffered the same torment in its KaMaqhekeza branch about two months ago.

Mr Jobe Sibambo from Disaster Management said they were unable to comment on the matter at this stage, but they are still looking into the matter.

“We are yet to investigate the crux of the matter and once the investigations are finalised, we will be able to let the public know what the cause of the fire was,” he said.

Unconfirmed speculations on the ground suggest that the fire, which almost laminated to nearby stores, was sparked by a kettle cable which burst inside the Jet Mart store while somebody plugged it with no water inside.
