MBOMBELA – Local lass, Cassandra Steingo is the new face of SABC 1’s Jika Majika after a frantic search for a worthy replacement for the ever-enigmatic Thembi Seete.
This came as no surprise to this publication, which had been a media partner during the Crowning Miss Mpumalanga 2014 beauty pageant earlier this year.
She’s an enthusiastic go-getter and is determined to achieve her goals at all costs. She made her fellow competitors run for the coveted prize, in which she emerged as the second princess.
The auditions were held in the city on September 6 when a bevy of beauties converged on the venue to try their luck, and the cool-as-a-cucumber Cassandra lived up to the expectations of the auditioning panel.
“This is one of my greatest challenges, it’s all thanks to my profile that’s been associated with being the second princess in Miss Mpumalanga. It gave me the much-needed exposure to face people, head-on, although now they will be imaginary as shooting goes on, but I’ll always know that they are facing me and watching my every step.
“My God-given talents, which are beauty and dancing, attributed to my latest success. This is just the beginning of a long journey on television as I’ve been yearning for such opportunities,” she said.
The organisers of Crowning Miss Mpumalanga, Mzimari Productions’ CEO Ms Gugu Nyarenda said they were proud of Cassandra’s achievement. “This is a significant step in the right direction for the pageant to produce presenters for public broadcasters like the SABC1.
“This also showcases that our finalists have mettle and are not a run-of-the-mill candidates, but nation builders of repute who can represent this province in different spheres of life. When we embarked on a journey to nurture and develop young women, this was one of the achievements we wanted to attain” attested Nyarenda
