HUC expands its roots

KAMHLUSHWA – The Holiness Union Church in Southern Africa (HUC) is one of the Church denominations established by the Swedish Missionaries in the early stages of the century. The Church is still known in some corners of the world as the Swedish Church.

Last Sunday went down to the church’s record books yet another milestone in its development and growth as a new circuit was opened at KaMhlushwa for the community to benefit.

The circuit was announced and launched by the Bishop of the Holiness Union Church in Southern Africa, Bishop G.E Sambo in an event which was attended by an odd 2000 delegates from all the structures of the church viz. the national council, district representatives, circuit structures, church elders, general membership and veterans to children’s ministry structures.

“The name of the newly established circuit is Sidlamafa Circuit and it is the 6th circuit of the HUC in the Lowveld District, and the 24th in the country. Whilst we commend you for your perseverance throughout the entire process we equally need to remind you of the work that still lies ahead.

It remains the responsibility of this leadership and the entire body of Christ to preach the gospel to the whole world. In our case we only have 6 of the 9 provinces in South Africa recorded in our books and 3 more still need to be launched. It, therefore, calls for all of us to work together as brethren in, and the body of, Christ” said Bishop G.E Sambo.

This event follows the passing of the National Conference resolution to establish the new circuit at KaMhlushwa. It took a lot of envisioning and strong leadership under the church pastor, Dr. Rev. M.E Mahlalela.

A lot of ground work and extensive consultation was done throughout the processes trying to align the vision with the strategic documents of the Holiness Union Church. Dr. Rev Mahlalela had this emotional message to say to the congregants in attendance.

“It is finally home. With your support and perseverance we stand here today as witnesses to the launch of a new circuit of the Holiness Union Church in our area. It could not have been possible without your support as a church.

As a new circuit we remain accountable to all the upper structures of the church as outlined in the Constitution of the Holiness Union Church in Southern Africa. This is not just victory to us as a church but let the glory be to the Lord and may His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

The process of finding a suitable name for the circuit was run in a highly democratic manner whereby fellow church members were given an opportunity to come up with a name.

The competition has been running for the past few weeks and the lucky winner was Mrs. Nkambule who could not hold her tears after it was announced the winner of a whooping R3000.00 prize money. She only had God to thank as this prize meant a lot to her.

“To be honest, I was merely entering the competition just like anybody else. I never expected to be the winner, let alone a prize of this kind. I am honored and thanks to the church leadership and the Almighty God…I will forever praise His name” She said with tears of joy rolling down her face.
