MBOMBELA – Zimbabwean citizens living in the province and beyond have found hope in the minister of home affairs, Mr Malusi Gigaba. This after he introduced the all-new Zimbabwe Special Dispensation Permit (ZSDP).

This follows much speculation and intense worry and uncertainty for Zimbabweans living on these shores. They now can obtain permits that are valid for three years, effective from January 1, 2015 until December 31, 2017.

The current Dispensation for Zimbabwe Project (DZP) permits will now expire on December 31, 2014 and all those who want to remain in South Africa, must apply for the ZSDP permits before the expiry date.

According to the department, Zimbabweans who want to apply for the new permits need to bring along a valid passport, proof of employment or business, or accredited study, and a clear criminal record.

The ZDSP will allow permit holders to live, work, conduct business and study in South Africa, for the duration of the permit, which is valid until December 31, 2017.

Applications will open on October 1, 2014 and close on December 31 this year. The above applications will be submitted to VFS Global and decided by the Department of Home Affairs.
Anyone who thinks that their immigration status may be affected should seek professional legal advice.
