TRAC offers special concessions during GTR

With the Great Train Race taking place this Saturday, August 23, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) will once again provide a special toll reduction at the Middelburg Toll Plaza for motorists affected by the closure of the R555.

With the Great Train Race taking place this Saturday, August 23, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) will once again provide a special toll reduction at the Middelburg Toll Plaza for motorists affected by the closure of the R555.

As is custom for this annual competition, the R555 between eMalahleni and Middelburg will be completely closed to traffic between 05:45 and 13:30 on the day, and motorists on the road during these times will be diverted to the N4 Toll Route.

To accommodate all those affected, and as part of its contribution towards the Greatest Train Race, TRAC will charge Class 1 (light vehicles) motorists a reduced toll fee of R18 (instead of R47) at the Middelburg Plaza.

Road users diverted to the N4 by traffic officials will be given a unique voucher that qualifies them for the special rate. This voucher, which they simply have to hand in at the Middelburg Toll Plaza, is valid only during the period of the road’s closure.

TRAC has been involved in the Greatest Train Race, a large financial injection for the local community, for years. TRAC supports the event with the toll concession, assists with marshalling and pays the entry fees of all the TRAC employees competing in the race.

According to TRAC CEO Graham Esterhuysen, contributing towards community events such as the Greatest Train Race is important to the company. “Improving road safety and offering a superb road infrastructure is only a part of our objectives as a concessionaire,” explains Esterhuysen.

“As a major service provider in the area, we take our social responsibility towards the communities along the route seriously and this is but one way of serving those people.

“It is a privilege to be involved and contribute meaningfully to a cause that we have no doubt will have a positive impact on the local community and beyond,” says Esterhuysen.

TRAC’s Helpdesk will be available to assist road users with queries and information relating to the N4, and the special concession, throughout the event.

This fully operational call centre assists and responds to all road user queries as well as any emergencies, incidents and accidents that occur on the N4 Toll Route. It can be reached 24 hours a day, toll-free, on 0800 87 22 64.
