Rapist to spend over 50 years in jail

The accused was sentenced to 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances, six years for kidnapping, ten years for the second rape, another 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstancess, six years for kidnapping and six years for sexual assault

MBOMBELA- A 31-year-old man will grow grey in jail after being sentenced to a solid 58 years in jail for inflicting crimes against women and children.
Nhlanhla Lesego Malope was sentenced by the Nelspruit Regional Court on August 14 for two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of kidnapping, rape and sexual assault which he committed between February and March 2012.

During judgement Magistrate Amos Khumalo applauded the work done by members of the South African Police Service and the thorough investigation which led to Malope’s conviction.
“I have an obligation towards members of the society to have him removed and locked away, he has inflicted pain and suffering within the community” said Khumalo.
When passing his sentence, Khumalo said he does not find any compelling circumstances to deviate from prescribed sentences and hence sentenced Malope as follows:
“ A total of 15 years for count one (robbery with aggravating circumstances), six years for count two (kidnapping), ten years for count three (rape), another 15 years for count four ( robbery with aggravating circumstances), six years for count five (kidnapping) and six years for count 6 (sexual assault)
