MANGWENI – A 51-year-old woman was robbed of her car during a house robbery at Mangweni last night. Her car was found abandoned at a known tavern around Tonga.

“It is alleged that the suspects broke the window and burglar proof, entered the house and attacked the woman while she was sleeping,” said Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi of Tonga Police Station.

According to Nyambi, the woman alleges that she was asleep when she suddenly saw three unknown men who then pointed a fire-arm towards her and demanded cash.

“The suspects said to have taken an undisclosed amount of cash, a Nokia cell phone, and a bank card. Some of them then went to withdraw money while the others held the victim hostage in her house,” he said.

“When they came back from the ATM they demanded the car keys for a Toyota Hilux double cab belonging to the woman and fled the scene.”

The suspects are still at large and the police are appealing to anyone who might have information that will help lead to their arrests. The community can contact Lieutenant Colonel Pilusa on 082 354 8085/ 013 780 8300
