Needy kids get assistance

MGOBODZI – The lives of more than 40 learners of four local schools will never be the same again because of the generosity by the ANC chief whip in the provincial legislature, Musa Mkhatshwa.

Mkhatshwa, who bought school uniforms and shoes for these learners, said investing in children’s education was investing in the country’s future.

“I have, with the help of my office and the schools concerned, identified children and families who can’t afford to buy school uniforms and sanitary towels for their children. We have made it possible for them to access education, without being humiliated by their peers.

“I strongly believe that if we empower and invest in our children’s education, we are in a way helping to build a better tomorrow,” explained Mkhatshwa.

He said he was touched by the level of poverty these kids live under and had since committed to always look after them.

Upon learning of Mkhatshwa’s gesture, the ANC Ehlanzeni regional chairperson, Ngrai Ngwenya and the local chief, Indlovukazi, also pledged to contribute in their small but unique way towards the children’s education.

Ngwenya promised the learners, of whom some had never been outside this area, a trip to the Kruger National Park, which will be fully paid for by him.

Indlovukazi, on the other hand, bought school bags for the learners and further committed to always look after those in need.
