BUSHBUCKRIDGE – The Bushbuckridge Residents Association(BRA)leader, Mr Delta Mokoena and three other members of the party were released on bail yesterday at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s court.

The suspects are facing charges of kidnapping and assault.
After their release, hundreds of the BRA members and supporters held a prayer session and a celebration at the demolished BRA offices in Acornhoek.

“We believe the allegations are untrue and politically motivated. The MEC for safety, security and liaison Vusi Shongwe and the police have taken the law into their own hands during the time they were demolishing our office.

They went on without waiting for the courts to process the matter through the justice system before they act on the matter,” said Promise Moripa, communications officer of the party.

According to Moripa, the party’s office which was demolished last month was acquired from the steering committee which was assigned to look after the property after it was handed over to Sehlare Tribal Authority.

“In essence the police should have served us with notice of occupying public works building illegally and as occupants they were obliged by law to notify us on such a demolition,” he further stated.

“We call on our members and supporters to remain calm, resolute and disciplined until the outcome of the trial that is expected to start soon and the outcome of the trial will prove that the allegations against our members are untrue and politically motivated.” concluded Moripa.
