HIV positive serial rapist in court

The court heard the accused repeatedly raped, robbed and stabbed his victims with a knife.

MBOMBELA – While women in the country celebrate Women’s Month, the Gauteng Circuit of the High Court in Mbombela heard how a 35-year-old HIV-positive serial rapist lured desperate women through false job interviews, subsequently raping and stabbing them.

The accused, Mr Timothy Danger Magagula of Kamajika, pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of rape, nine charges of attempted murder, two of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, five of robbery with aggravating circumstances and three of kidnapping.

Some of the victims (who cannot be named to protect their identity), were informed by their relatives and even church members, about a security guard whose so-called employer was apparently looking for women to employ in the kitchens of guest houses.

The court heard how he repeatedly raped, robbed and stabbed victims with a knife.

One of them testified in court that after the rape ordeal, he ordered her to close her eyes and pray.

According to the charge sheet, the crimes were committed from May 2009 to January 2013 near Kiepersol in Hazyview, Khenana farms, and Sand Rivier.

The accused also took his victims’ bags, cellphones and cash.
The matter still continues in court.
