Taxi driver appeared in court

The taxi driver involved in the horrendious taxi accident last week appeared in court.

WHITE RIVER – The 21- year-old taxi driver whose taxi claimed the lives of 11 passengers at the junction near the Plaston and the R40 road briefly appeared in a sombre mood in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Monday.

Mr Xolani Jele faces charges of culpable homicide. He was released on R2 500 bail and will and the case was postponed to September 2 for investigation.

On a separate area the Kanyamazane police station received four reported cases of assaults over the weekend. Most of them involve youth coming from drinking places and who assaulted their friends after an argument.

“Causes of the assaults cases we have shown that people lack respect for each other and end up assaulting each, no one was seriously on this case,” said W/O Andries Skwambana.
