Political leader still denied bail

ACORNHOEK - The president of Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) and three others were again denied bail by the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court.

ACORNHOEK – The president of Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) and three others were again denied bail by the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court.

Mr Delta Mokoena (42) and his co accused Noel Lebyane (37),Billy Chiloane (35), Ms Lucky Maatjie (31), Mpho Malatji (33) and were denied bail when they appeared in court on July 22 and will appear again in court for bail application on August 1.

Three of them Mr Christopher Mokoena (25), Ms Lizzy Mahlaskoane (32) and Mr Aubrey Sekgobela (31) were granted R1000 bail each and will appear with the nine other co accused namely Erick Mashile (40), Chicks Molobela (31), Mashiyeng Mosoma (56), Alios Seerane (51),Herold Mhlongo (52), Sydney Moropane (25), Aubrey Sekgobela (31),Patson Shokane (32), and Raymond Sedibe (44) were released R1 0000 bail each and they case was postponed to August 14.

The suspects faces charges of kidnapping, six counts of kidnappings, six counts of assault GBH, six counts of attempted murder and robbery assault with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm.

Members of the party and carrying placards continued to demonstrate outside court during court proceedings, calling for the release Mokoena and their members whom they say are innocent. They added that they were not guilty until proven so and allege that their arrested was all a political smear campaign against members of the party.

It is alleged th at six victims were kidnapped, assaulted and kept in an unoccupied government house situated in the plantations by the group of people who had has links with Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) political party.

It is alleged that the victims were suspected to be criminals and rapists and are now are now in a witness protection programme
