Best wishes extended to school’s choirs

MEC wishes the best of luck to 22 school choirs who are set to represent the province in the national competition next week

MBOMBELA- The provincila MEC for the department of education Ms Reginah Mhaule extends her best wishes to the 22 school choirs to represent the province in the forthcoming South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod, National Championships scheduled to take place from July 15 to the 17th at the Durban ICC.

These schools obtained the first position in different genres of choral music at the provincial championships held in May at Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

“The South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod is one of the schools’ curriculum enrichment programmes that the department supports as it aims to promote unity, social transformation and cohesion amongst young South Africans,” she said .

“I take this time to express my best wishes to all the participants that are going to represent our province at National Level. At the same time I wish to thank teachers, conductors, parents and everyone who made it possible for our learners to reach this level. This competition has a potential to unearth talent, instil discipline and expose our learners to the highest levels of musical renditions”, said Mhaule.

She added that the involvement of learners in extramural activities is of paramount importance as it teaches discipline, encourages team work and improves time management skills.

“It also plays an important role in building the learners’ self-esteem,”she added.
