WHITE RIVER – The local police are looking for unknown suspects who fatally shot a Somalian businessman of Msholozi Section A last week.

According to police spokesperson WO Gugu Phiri, the deceased’s body was discovered by his neighbours in the early hours of Tuesday morning, supposedly hours after he had been shot on Monday night.

This newspaper learnt from the members of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity, that the deceased was a very kind person but he fought back whenever he was attacked.

“This act is uncalled for and barbaric. We wish the police will do their work and arrest the criminals,” they said.

In a separate incident, a 29-year-old-man who fatally stabbed his 19-year-old stepson, recently appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court.

“It is alleged that on June 14, Mr Mduduzi Magagula stabbed the victim to death at Msholozi Village,” said Phiri.

The incident occurred outside the deceased’s house, after they had just returned from a drinking spree.

“The accused allegedly hurled insults at the deceased, physically attacked him, pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed him after which the accused fled the scene. The victim was then declared dead by pathologists,” she said.

The suspect was arrested by police the following day. His case was postponed to July 23 and he is currently remanded in custody.
