MALALANE – An illegal dumping site is a nightmare in some communities such as Kabokweni and other areas under Nkomazi Local Municipality .
Recently, a local community radio station (Nkomazi FM), municipal officials and other stakeholders established a clean-up campaign that will play a significant role in reducing illegal dumping sites. Community members from Block A came in numbers to the clean-up of illegal dumping sites.
Mpumalanga News learnt that this campaign will roll out to other places that fall under NLM including Naas, Mangweni, Kamhlushwa and Langeloop which are the areas that are close to rivers.
To ensure that this campaign yields positive results, the municipality hired 20 young people that will be responsible to run the campaign and residents will be taught about waste management.
