PIENAAR – A 23-year-old man has been arrested for raping his 51-year-old neighbour.
It’s reported that the woman was sleeping when the man came and knocked at the door.
He requested to see one of the neighbour’s children and when the woman told him that the child was not around, the man allegedly broke a window to gain access and started to rape the woman in the kitchen.
Mpumalanga News learnt that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. After raping the woman, he fell asleep on top of the woman, but the victim managed to push the suspect and alert her neighbours who informed the police about the incident.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect naked,sleeping on the floor and arrested him.
The spokesperson of the local police station, Lt Jabu Ndubane confirmed the incident and said,
“It’s true we have arrested a man in connection with the rape. The suspect was drunk and he fell asleep naked and we have charged him.“
Ndubane alluded that the victim is traumatized at this stage as she told police that she doesn’t believe that the man raped her as he was treating him as a child as she went on and said she raised the suspect as her child after his parents passed away.
