Premier applauds Mp’s from the province

“It is encouraging to see that the country can recognise that as individuals from Mpumalanga, we can also take South Africa forward.

MBOMBELA- Mpumalanga Premier-elect David Mabuza has applauded six members of parliament who hail from Mpumalanga who made it to the national executive council as a minister and deputy ministers.

He particularly congratulated former Mpumalanga Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs head of department David Mahlobo who was entrusted with a huge responsibility to head state security.

“It is encouraging to see that the country can recognise that as individuals from Mpumalanga, we can also take South Africa forward.

“To become a chief spy is a daunting task, but for a person to put you in that position, means that the President has confidence in you,” said Mabuza.

Other members of parliament from Mpumalanga who were announced as deputy ministers are Candidth-Mashego Dlamini [Rural Development and Land Reform], Madala Masuku [Economic Development], Mduduzi Manana [Higher Education and Training], Sindi Chikunga [Transport] and Thabanga Makwetla [Correctional Services portfolio].

The Premier said the province would continue to support the ministers but stressed that he also expected a positive behaviour from them.

“Stay focused, carry all of us with you, represent us every day and night, and do not forget that we exist. It is a more difficult terrain where you are, it will really require good leadership.
We are really proud of you and we equally believe in you,” said Mabuza.

Meanwhile the Premier’s inauguration will take place on Thursday, 29 May 2014 in Mbombela at the Riverside Government Complex. The Premier will subsequently announce his executive council after his inauguaration.
