Woman arrested for husband’s murder

Neighbours who heard gun shots and saw her with the firearms, summoned police for investigation. Her husband's body was found motionless on the floor in their house. Paramedics were called and declared him dead.

BARBERTON- A 47-year-old woman appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s court in connection with the murder of her husband.

According to police information on May 12 the suspect Ms Martha Suzan Kruger had an argument with her husband who was in his late 50’s and they both owned an insurance business situated closer to their house in Malelane.

Martha allegedly shot and fatally wounded her husband. “It is unclear at this stage what the argument was about. It was reported to the police that Martha was seen coming out of the house with two firearms in her hands,”explained Col Leonard Hlathi.

He added that neighbours who heard gun shots and saw her with the firearms, summoned police for investigation. Her husband’s body was found motionless on the floor in their house. Paramedics were called and declared him dead.

The woman was then arrested on the spot and charged with murder. The was granted R5000 bail on condition that she must hand over her passport to the investigation officer as soon as possible.

The matter was then postponed to June 9 at the Malelane Periodical Court.
