A plot to get rid of premier

MBOMBELA – Even though the ANC is still leading in Mpumalanga at this stage in the results of the elections that were held yesterday, there were rumours spreading around that some members of the ruling party held a private meeting at a house of one of its members in Kanyamazane.

It has been reliably reported to us that it was in that meeting, which was attended by some prominent members of the party in the province, where a plot to bring about a downfall to the current political leadership led by chairperson, Mr David Mabuza – the modus operandi being to rally among ANC members to actually go to vote, but only for national and not fill in the provincial ballot papers.

According to inner sources within the ruling party itself, Mabuza, who is currently serving his second term as chairperson provincially, is set to return for yet another second term as premier of the province.

All pointers, according to the current results, as at 10.56, the ANC is leading in the provincial polls.

This publication contacted the provincial spokesperson of the ANC, Mr Siphosezwe Masango and he had this to say:

“We haven’t heard or received such a rumour, but I am saying, if there were people who were doing that, it’s political irresponsibility and they must bear in mind that when people who are voting for the ANC, they are not voting for certain individuals, they are voting for the party that set them free. We may never know, maybe they were just people who were wearing ANC T-shirts but they are not members of the organization,” he concluded.

Our suspicions on the alleged plot were also confirmed by the actual votes cast in the province.

There were a total of 1 860 834 registered voters, a total of 959 586 votes were received and valid votes stand at 943 997
