Robbery suspect shoots himself in a toilet

Manager of the supermarket, Mr Sibongiseni Booi, said staff members were traumatised by the robbery.

ELUKWATINI – One of the six armed men who robbed Elukwatini SPAR shot himself in a pit toilet while hiding for police on April 1.

According to Const Peace Mbokane, the six heavily armed men blocked access as well as exit for staff and clients at the supermarket around 08:00 and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones.

“Some of the staff members who managed to flee via the back exit of the shop, reported the robbery to an off-duty police officer whom they met on the way. The official then called for backup,” explained Mbokane.
