Premier set for a comeback next term

This despite many pundits predicting that he was headed for the National Assembly, either as a minister, deputy minister or, as some lately rumoured, deputy president, especially after this coming term when the president Mr Jacob Zuma has completed his second term.

MBOMBELA – The premier Mr David Mabuza has topped the ANC’s final 2014 election list and is set once more to lead the province for another five-year term.

This despite many pundits predicting that he was headed for the National Assembly, either as a minister, deputy minister or, as some lately rumoured, deputy president, especially after this coming term when the president Mr Jacob Zuma has completed his second term.

However, the provincial legislature list continues to be dominated by males, by 16 to 14. Ms Reginah Mhaule tops the women on the list at number five. She is closely followed by Ms Violet Siwela at six, then chief whip in the provincial legislature, Ms Thandi Shongwe is number seven on the list.

Another notable candidate on the list, on a comeback trail is former MEC, Ms Nomsa Mtsweni at number nine. The rest of the women candidates are Ms Norah Mahlangu (10), Ms Maria Refilwe Mtshweni (12), Ms Violet Basani Nkuna (14), Ms Jeaneth Lizzy Nghondzweni (16), Ms Patricia Ngobeni (18), Ms Cynthia Gabisile Shabalala (20), Ms Goodness Dumisile Nhlengethwa (22), Ms Sazi Rhoda Mathabe (24), Ms Thokozile Valentia Maunga (26) and Ms Clarah Busisiwe Ndlovu (29.)

The rest of the male candidates include Mr David Boy Dube, Mr Andrias Mzikayifani Gamede, Mr Robert Vusumuzi Songwe, Mr Eric Skhumbuzo Kholwane, Mr Piet Simon Skhosana, Mr Victor Vusumuzi Windvoel, Mr Petrus Simon

Ngomane, Mr Musa Johanne Mkhatshwa, Mr Pudumo Gillion Mashego, Mr Innocent Sibusiso Malaza, Mr Thulare William Madileng, Mr Elphas Kedikanetswe Mathole, Mr Calvin Lesiba Mabusela and Mr Gibson Muzi Chirwa.

The province’s national list comprises the following candidates, Ms Eunice Dories Dlakude, Ms Sindisiwe Lydia Chikunga, Ms Promise Duduzile Manana, Ms Grace Mmatlala Boroto, Mr Hlamalani Dalton Khosa, Mr Hlakudi Frans Nkoana, Mr Elvis Kholwana Siwela, Mr Jim James Skhosana, Ms Adelaide Nokhaya Mnisi, Mr Sibusiso Goodwill Radbebe, Ms Friddah Mogotle Nkadimeng, Mr Derrick Mnguni, Mr Thomas Bongani Bongo, Ms Dorothy Thapelo Chiloane and Ms Martha Leah Khoza.
