Pensioner jailed for raping minors

He raped the first victim on June 30, 2010 near Phola Trust after pointing what seemed to be a firearm at her. The second victim was repeatedly raped from May to September of the same year.

NELSPRUIT- A 60-year-old pensioner of Masoyi village will not enjoy his share in the increase in the old-age grant as per the announcement by the minister of finance, Mr Parvin Gordon.

He was sentenced to 23 years in prison for raping two minors.

On February 26 the Nelspruit Regional Court found Mr Aaron Mhlongo guilty of the rape of his 18-year-old and 13-year-old victims. He raped the first victim on June 30, 2010 near Phola Trust after pointing what seemed to be a firearm at her. The second victim was repeatedly raped from May to September of the same year.

The magistrate sentence Mhlongo to eight years on the first count and another 15 years on the second , totalling 23 years. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. The magistrate also ordered that Mhlongo’s name be entered into the country’s sexual offenders register.
