KABOKWENI – The local disaster team responded in time after community members at Bejukufa cried out for help after water caused by the heavy rain started to flood their yards.
It’s allegedly believed that poor infrastructure of the water drainages in some of the streets is not doing justice to the residents.
Speaking to Mpumalanga News, one of residents, Ms Thembekile Manzini said “Water was starting to flood in my yard and I decided to act early because if I was going to relax, I was going to lose my belongings. I think some of the problems that I believe have contributed a lot to causing flooding in our yard are the damaged streets, water drainage because the water was not going through properly. We appeal to our leaders in our municipality to take serious measures and address the issue of damaged street water drainages to avoid floods in our houses because they have been like this for a very long time.“
