Students angry at lecturers

BARBERTON – Students at FET College Barberton felt that they were taken for granted as told the media that there were lecturers who did not take their jobs seriously.

They said this has had a bad impact on results at the end of the year. One of the students, speaking to the paper anonymously, said, “Things are not well organised in this campus. People do as they please.
Sometimes we travel all the way from Matsulu hoping that teaching and learning will take place, only to find that a lecturer is absent.They don’t bother to tell us before, especially for the afternoon classes or they think most of the people who attend at that time are those who are working. This is not true.
I’m not working and it’s very sad that we waste our transport fees in this way, he explained.
Another student said they were encouraged to register for the next level although they still had not received last year’s results. “What is happening here is very confusing. We are in a dilemma.
Now we don’t know what to do as they told us that we need to register for the next level. How can you register for N2 if you don’t know whether you have passed N1?” she asked. She added that the current situation was very demotivating.
”It’s February already but we still don’t know where we stand. Some of us came here because we couldn’t afford to go to universities, but we want to further our studies and FET is known to be affordable, There are rumours that they are planning to increase the registration fees and now this drama. No, something must be done,“ he said.
