Man commits suicide with curtain at dumping site

A close family friend told this publication that the man had woken up in the morning and left for work.

BARBERTON – A man believed to be in his early 30s, has committed suicide at the dumping site next to Verulam. Mpumalanga News ascertained that he hailed from Driekoppies in Nkomazi Local Municipality.

He apparently hanged himself in a tree with a curtain tightened around his neck. It’s also alleged he’d had a blood test done and had received a call in this regard. It is suspected that the results were not favourable, which led to his suicide.

Spokesperson for the local police station, Const Tutu Nkosi, confirmed the incident, “We have already opened an inquest. It seems as if he had a blood test and had received the results, but we don’t know for sure what might have led him to commit suicide.”

A close family friend told this publication that the man had woken up in the morning and left for work. He was employed at Fairview Mine. At about 11:00 the family received the shocking news that one of their members had hanged himself.

“We don’t know what happened. He didn’t even leave a note so we will never know why he took his own life,” they said.
