Local guards win Coke Award

First in Guards provides security services to Coca-Cola's plants and depots in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

NELSPRUIT – An established Lowveld family business was recently named supplier of the year for the local branch of a large multinational company.

First in Guards provides security services to Coca-Cola’s plants and depots in both Mpumalanga and Limpopo. The company has been named Coca-Cola South Africa’s supplier of the year in the category other services.

Mr Donavan Taylor, regional manager of First in Guards, who received the award at a ceremony held in Port Elizabeth, said it performed access- as well as stock control for Coca-Cola. Clearly the business did this exceptionally well.

“We are not a flash in the pan,” said Taylor. The security firm was started by his father, Mr Allan Taylor, as Lowveld Guards in 1982, before being renamed in 1997. Donavan joined the company in 2006. Coca-Cola is currently First in Guard’s largest corporate client, since it started providing services to it in 2009.

“I think we have been consistent in our service delivery, and managing issues and problems that arise on a daily basis,” he concluded.
