Last chance to get onto voter’s roll

SMS your ID number to 32810 to see if and where you are registered to vote.

NELSPRUIT – The next two days will offer potential voters a final chance to register to vote in the general elections. The exact date of the provincial and national elections is expected to be announced on Monday, once the registration period has closed.

Cloudy weather is expected for Saturday, so grab your identity document and make your way to your nearest voting centre as soon as possible, when registration will be taking place all across the country.

According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), registration time has been greatly reduced and the process does not take long.

All 1 680 voting stations will be open from 08:00 to 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday so people who are eligible to vote but have still not registered in Mpumalanga (totaling 26,8 per cent of voter-age people) can get their names onto the voter’s roll.

Those who have previously registered but have relocated to another province or town, should also re-register in order to be able to vote for the provincial government. Contact 013-754-0275 if you are unsure where to register.
