Decomposed body found

Relatives are sought for a man whose decomposed body was found

LOW’S CREEK – The local police are still looking for the relatives of a man whose decomposing body was found in bush near the mining timber in January. Police information reveals that two members of the community who were walking in the forest stumbled upon the remains of an unidentified male.

Police immediately responded to the scene and pathologists were called in. “Due to the badly decomposed state the body was in, the victim could not be identified. It was evident that he had already been dead for a couple of days,” said Const Khethiwe Themba, spokesperson for the local police.

She said the deceased was aged from

25 to 35. “He was found wearing a navy blue two-piece rain suit with a pair of black boots. Since there was no case reported doctors couldn’t perform a post-mortem and therefore the cause of death could not be determined.” She said such incidents were very rare in the area.

Themba urge families who were unsure of the whereabouts of their next of kin to visit the police station. She also asked the community to report urgently any missing person to the nearest police station.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Const Ian Mashaba on 076-930-7145 or Const Mamba on 079-891-5119.
